In 1999, Karen Comerford, a textile designer and Pratt graduate with a background in product development, opened her shop, Comerford Collection in Bridgehampton, New York as a laboratory of sorts-a place in which to experiment with new designs and merchandising ideas. In this refined space, Karen and her colleagues work to define the term "MODERN," stripping it of its implications of austerity and imbuing it with a comfortable, uncomplicated simplicity.
Billy Knight joined Karen in 2002, by way of the Inn on the Blue Horizon in Vieques, Puerto Rico. A proprietor at the popular vacation resort for ten years, Billy's talent for creating interiors and his charming personality won over many returning visitors to the Inn, which was featured in Architectural Digest. His indefatigable energy and enthusiasm for all things creative constantly reinvigorates the Comerford Collection brand.
Mary Kohne and her husband relocated to the Hampton's in the fall of 2012. Mary hails from Virginia and has previously recruited young artists and conducted portfolio reviews at SCAD. A background in fashion merchandising, gentile southern manners, honed organizational skills and attention to detail all contribute to Mary's invaluable asset (as Wonder Woman) to Comerford Collection.
ABOUT OUR FURNITURE
The clean-lined private label furniture is the platform on which the aesthetic of the shop is built. Sleek without being slick, strong but not overpowering, the handcrafted pieces anchor a collection of contemporary textiles, lighting, interior accessories, photographs, and paintings. Color, texture, and subtle pattern are combined through the store in a series of tableaux that is soothing, surprising, and elegant while remaining completely comfortable.
